WINNER – SENSORS EXPO
Best of Sensors Award 2020
Congratulations to our amazing Microphone team for winning Best of Sensors Award 2020 in the IoT category! The award spotlights the year’s best innovations, technologies, teams and individuals in the sensors industry, and we are humbled to be named a winner. We will continue to drive innovation and produce the best MEMS Microphones in the industry.
InvenSense’s analog and digital microphone portfolios build on a strong heritage of industry firsts, including continuous improvement of MEMS microphone SNR, ever-higher integration levels, and even lower power consumption. Technological advances like these have enabled machine speech recognition & adaptive noise suppression to become commonplace in consumer devices and other applications.
Humans intuitively understand audio capture to be a critical factor in awareness of their surroundings. InvenSense is working to enable the same level of awareness for smart devices with leading-edge MEMS microphones. InvenSense combines the capability to sense audio along with cutting-edge motion detection, which is important for many contextual awareness applications.
The T5818 is a Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) microphone with a dynamic range of 107dB at 590µA, the widest dynamic range in the industry at the lowest power, which allows for excellent acoustic performance in environments that shift from very quiet to very loud, such as far field voice pickup barge-in for Smart Speaker applications.
This microphone features 66dBA SNR, 135dB SPL AOP, at 590 µA in High Quality Mode (HQM), and decreases power consumption to 215 µA in Low Power Mode (LPM). It is essential for capturing high quality audio inputs, which plays a vital role for AI engines and cloud-based applications that require a PDM microphone interface. Current analog output wide dynamic range microphones require expensive ADCs to take advantage of full acoustic capabilities. The T5818 provides this ADC conversion while maintaining excellent dynamic range with the benefits of a PDM low latency bit stream, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from mobile phones to ANC headsets.
The T5808 is a multi-mode, low noise digital MEMS microphone in a small package. The T5808 consists of a MEMS microphone element and an impedance converter amplifier followed by a fourth-order Σ-Δ modulator. The digital interface is a MIPI Alliance SoundWire® compliant interface which allows bi-directional data flow.
The T5808 has multiple modes of operation: High Quality, Low Power Listen (Always-On), Concurrent and Idle (sleep). The T5808 has high SNR and high AOP in all operational modes.
The T5808 is available in a standard 3.5 × 2.65 × 0.98 mm surface-mount package. It is reflow solder compatible with no sensitivity degradation.
Our next generation of InvenSense microphones fit in all mobile applications where low power, high fidelity, tight sensitivity matching and high acoustic overload point (AOP) are important.
Multi-mode microphones are ideal in ‘AlwaysOn’ applications where the current consumption is significantly reduced in Low-Power mode. InvenSense is the only company offering a high SNR and AOP multi-mode solution for both analog (ICS-40618/40619) and digital (ICS-41350) microphones.
High SNR is beneficial ensuring voice or music is picked up with high fidelity over larger distances, crucial in speakerphones and conferencing systems. The ICS-40720 is offered with industry-leading 70 dBA SNR.
Matching top and bottom port microphones in the 65 dBA SNR class allow a high degree of freedom in packaging mobile devices. The ICS-40180 and ICS-40181 are designed specifically for mobile devices such as smart phones.
