TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) proudly announces its continued support of the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, an annual tradition held in downtown San Jose, California, which is recognized as the largest Thanksgiving Day race in the United States. TDK will sponsor the 2024 event’s 5K race, one of several race categories included in the day’s festivities. This year, Moris Dovek, Sr. VP and CTO of TDK Headway Technologies, will speak on behalf of TDK before the race.

Founded in 2005, the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot raises funds for local charitable organizations, including the Healthier Kids Foundation, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County, and The Health Trust. Over its history, the event has generated more than $11 million to support individuals and families in Northern California.

In its eighth consecutive year as a sponsor, TDK will cover the race fee for its employees, and invites all global team members to participate. To accommodate its international workforce, TDK encourages both in-person and virtual participation. This initiative reflects TDK’s commitment to fostering engagement, teamwork, and wellness across its global workforce.

“At TDK, we value community connections and global engagement, and events like the Turkey Trot provide the perfect opportunity to unite these values,” said Susan Rowatt, TDK’s Turkey Trot committee chair. “This race has become an exciting tradition that blends team spirit, charitable giving, and wellness for our employees worldwide.”

In 2023, TDK had 506 employees participate globally, helping contribute to the combined total of $575,000 funds raised by all race participants. In 2024, TDK anticipates even greater turnout and enthusiasm from team members around the globe with the option to participate at the onsite event or complete the race remotely.

TDK is also currently in the lead for the Fittest Firm Competition as part of the event, a participant-based corporate challenge pitting companies against similarly-sized businesses to see who can officially call themselves the “fittest firm.” With the goal of building camaraderie, supporting community fitness, and of course, cultivating bragging rights for the next year, TDK leading this event is an exciting element for the 2024 team.

“Participating in the Turkey Trot is about more than just crossing the finish line—it’s about contributing to a healthier, stronger community,” added Rowatt. “TDK is honored to support this incredible cause year after year.”
