SmartBug 2.0 is a smart remote data-collection module for IoT, developed after the success of the original SmartBug. A key attribute of the SmartBug 2.0 is the replacement of the ICM-42688-P IMU with ICM-45686-S, the latest BalancedGyro™ IMU and the world’s lowest power IMU (220 µA @ 50 Hz 6-Axis) from TDK.

BalancedGyro™ technology enables developers to collect high quality IMU data for a longer period of time, due to the 3x battery life. The new IMU also provides premium temperature stability and vibration rejection, making SmartBug 2.0 useful for products such as AR glasses, VR, OIS, drones, MR, TWS, and robotics for prototyping, data collection, and machine learning-based algorithm development.

MD-45686-ML

Pre-loaded firmware works with TDK InvenSense SIF (Sensor Inference Framework) software that enables easy building, testing and deploying Machine Learning based algorithms on sensor chip. User can switch between the two product versions through firmware flashing.

 

TDK Sensor Inference Framework

SIF is an all-in-one comprehensive software by TDK that enables users to collect IMU sensor data, select custom features, build ML models, test performance, deploy, and run those models on the ICM-456xy-S IMUs. It comes with example algorithms for activity classification.

  • Spatial Audio Head Tracking: Demonstrate TDK’s headtracking solution by output real time position data (roll/pitch/yaw), raw angles and offset data at different power mode and ODR combinations
  • Sensor Fusion: Detects orientation accurately with 6-axis and 9-axis sensor fusion using advanced calibration. Enables logging Quaternion, Yaw, pitch and roll outputs
  • APEX: 6-axis IMU provides Tap, Tilt, Raise to Wake, Pedometer, WOM outputs
  • HVAC filter Monitoring: Two Pressure sensors accurately measure the ΔPressure and show alerts based on ΔP thresholds. Enables logging of differential pressure data
  • Asset Monitoring: 6-axis IMU, pressure, magnetometer, temperature and humidity sensor monitor the condition of an asset with configurable thresholds and provide event outputs such as Freefall, Shock, Magnetic Change etc. Enables logging event history
  • Air Mouse: 6-axis IMU maps the movement of an Air Mouse
  • Smart Door Lock: 6-axis IMU detects if door is in open or close state (< 3-degree accuracy). Enables logging angle output and open/close states
  • Over the Air (OTA) Firmware upgrade: Upgrade the firmware on the SmartBug using the OTA FW upgrade feature available on the SmartBug Application
